Awesome! I use it to read shapefiles and it's pretty fast!

Found the Position library awesome. I did report and error in dec 2014 but yet to have received a response. Not sure if this code base is maintained any more. Any one know?

For the price (free) it's pretty hard to beat. Pros: 1) free 2) open 3) easy to implement basic operations 4) relatively complete GIS API Cons: 1) Only one default raster format and even with GDAL working with other formats is a pain and often doesn't work properly. Default support for tiff files is sorely needed. 2) Bugs with default toolbox 3) Some things aren't very straight forward (like moving a layer to a specific index) 4) Getting started is a hassle due to the plugin requirements. The IStatusStrip, IDockManager etc require annoying work-arounds if you don't want to make a clone of the demo map.
