Simple Getting started

Sep 30, 2014 at 5:45 PM
Just stumbled across this library, hoping it could help.

I am trying to take the FAA VFR Raster Charts (https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/digital_products/vfr/) and programmatically create smaller maps from them (based on Lon/Lat of specific airports). They are tif files with world data. For a starting point I was simply looking at the Dallas sectional. All the text on the left and bottom is my concern.

Is DotSpatial.Data the proper tool for this job? If so would you mind pointing me in the right direction with a few lines of code or similar?

Best Regards

I don't know if Dotspatial.Data is the proper answer, but to get started with a basic understanding of how the libraries work you should have a look at the tutorials in the documentation section. They are simple and well structured. There are also some sample code in the documentation for specific tasks.

Yes, unfortunately it's either a little above me, or doesn't seem like the proper way to handle this and I am unable to identify the proper way.

Hence the post on the forum.
