add image icon to point for tracking

I am very new to DotSpatial and have been looking around for a straight forward example (in VB.net) on how to correctly show tracking points using an image as the point icon. However I can not find any good examples of this. Actually I currently feel that there is a serious lack of good examples on how to use the DotSpatial functionality. The Tutorials are limited and the "Developer's Corner" reference is completely outdated and also does not actually show complete examples or just one line.

I want to create a simple tracking application. I want to:

  • add a point at specified coordinates
  • add an image to the point
  • move the point to a new given coordinates (can be done repeatedly)
  • rotate icon so that it is pointing in direction of movement

Is there anywhere I can find such an example (preferably in VB.net) or separate examples for the different actions I need.

Your help is greatly appreciated else I am really stuck.

Thanks

Roger
